A US-inspired style: the Harrington jacket is a fashionable hybrid of a college and G9 Harrington from Baracuta. Visually, it matches the flair of our Fall 2024 collection: Fine lines and cream-coloured tones embody our retro-modern approach. Our Harrington is largely made of synthetic fibres, and for good reason: synthetic fibres are not shredded and are therefore much more stable. This stability is reflected in their longevity, which means that our sustainable approach to Harrington is not based on recycling, but on extra durability. The managing director of our Portuguese manufacturer wears a jacket made from exactly the same fabric that we use for our Harrington Jacket - and has done so for 10 years.

What is the original Harrington jacket?
The Harrington jacket, particularly the original G9 model by Baracuta (founded in Manchester in 1937 by John and Isaac Miller), has a rich history and is closely associated with the Mod subculture of the 1960s. In the late 1930s, the Miller brothers developed the G9 jacket. The first Harrington jacket was for men: it was originally designed as a casual jacket for golfers, hence the "G" in the name. The G9 is characterized by its signature "Fraser tartan" lining, two-button collar, elasticated cuffs and ribbed hem. In the 1960s, the G9 jacket was adopted by the British Mod subculture. Mods, known for their style-conscious and sharp dressing style, appreciated the G9 Harrington Jacket for its sleek silhouette and timeless design.

How to wear a Harrington jacket?
There are many variations of the Harrington on the market, including our Harrington Jacket. It remains extremely popular to this day. One of the simplest combinations is the Harrington jacket with a T-shirt and jeans. For a more sophisticated casual look, combine the jacket with a polo shirt and chinos.

Who wears a Harrington jacket?
The original Harrington Jacket gained popularity when it was worn by famous people such as Elvis Presley, Steve McQueen (the actor showcased the jacket in the film “The Thomas Crown Affair”) and Frank Sinatra.

But that's not all. Members of the punk band "The Clash" were also often seen wearing Harrington jackets. Liam and Noel Gallagher, the brothers of Oasis, are known for their love of British retro fashion, and the Harrington jacket is an integral part of their style.

Harrington jacket for men and women
Due to its classic and versatile nature, the Harrington jacket is popular with men of all ages. It is suitable for both young men who want a smart but casual look and older men who appreciate timeless fashion.
And although the Harrington Jacket is traditionally considered a men's jacket, many women wear them too. It goes well with different outfits and adds an androgynous, stylish touch.
